Welcome the spring and usher in the coming summer with Celtic band The Chivalrous Crickets as they celebrate the season, Celtic festival-style. The Crickets combine ancient and newly-created customs to create a rollicking May Day (aka Beltane) experience for the whole family. Centered around a concert of spring-associated folk music, expect sing-along May Day carols, children's games, a lottery to crown the May Queen and King, a historic short Robin Hood Play, poetry, arts & crafts in the lobby, refreshments, and MAY POLE DANCE! Wear your ribbons, your favorite festive spring attire, and join the Crickets - and WDIY's "Celtic Cultural Moment" host, theater artist Kate Scuffle - in the magical Greenwood for song, dance, ritual and play! Doors open 3:30pm for lobby activities: May Bush ribbon tying, head wreath making, face painting, photo op in the "Greenwood". Show from 4:00-6:00pm. Ticket holders receive $20% off at Donegal Square on May 18 and May 19. The audience is encouraged to join us at The Red Stag Pub after the event for dinner and a drink! The bar is featuring a cocktail created for May Day called "The Beltane".
